Dear Friends of SHFG, Happy New Year Greetings to you all! 2023 was an year of amazing growth and opportunities to fulfill our mission to empower survivors of domestic sex trafficking to live to their full potential.
I would like to take this moment to acknowledge a number of accomplishments from the past year, and especially to give thanks for the numerous ways you showed up to support our women and their children.
We were available for our women throughout the year in whatever capacity in which they had need. We purchased beds and bedding for a mom’s two children for their new apartment. We bought a computer desk for a mom so she had a place to study for her college courses. We paid for one woman’s license to be a security officer. We also helped many moms alleviate food insecurities for their families during the course of the year by supplying groceries or meals when they had no alternative.
We were able to fulfill their children’s school supply lists for the 2023-24 school year. This annual backpack and supply provision helps relieve moms who are financially stretched make sure their children have a great start to the school year. Throughout the year, we purchased seasonal clothing for many moms and children, and met daily needs such as diapers and wipes, health and beauty aids, and so much more.
In the fall, we were honored to partner with the residents of St. Regis Residences in Rye, NY to make sure every SHFG woman and her children had warm coats and jackets for the winter. 45 women and children were blessed with beautiful, brand new outerwear in their size and choice of color because of the generosity of our St. Regis friends.
During the holiday season, we were able to help several moms make sure there were presents for their children under their Christmas trees as well as food on their holiday tables.
We counseled, encouraged, supported and were present for each and every woman who called on us, and it is only by the incredible generosity of our donors that this was possible!
The Board of Directors, the Board of Advisors, the Junior Board and the women in our care would like to take this opportunity to thank you, our donors, our partners and friends for your continued dedication and commitment to our mission and vision. You are a blessing to us all!
